In last week’s post, a number of tips on preventing motorcyclist injuries and fatalities were provided. Sadly, these crashes will keep claiming lives in Huntington, and cities all over the state of West Virginia. When an irresponsible truck driver or drunk driver get behind the wheel, motorcyclists may not be able to avoid a fatal crash. Even when people are fortunate enough to survive a collision, motorcycle accident injuries are very common and frequently leave victims unable to work or permanently disabled.

Authorities are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that recently took place in Virginia. The accident claimed the life of a 55-year-old man who was ejected from the motorcycle he was riding after he was struck by a tractor trailer. The driver of the truck did not suffer any injuries in the collision.

Law enforcement officials say that the truck struck the motorcyclist in Fluvanna County around mile marker 128 in the early morning hours. The victim was a West Virginia resident from Augusta. The truck driver, a man from Minnesota, claimed that he had trouble seeing due to rain and fog.

When lives are lost in motorcycle crashes, there are often far-reaching consequences. Whether an entire family is turned upside down or a surviving spouse cannot afford to pay for funeral costs, fatal motorcycle accidents cause a great deal of suffering. Unfortunately, many of these accidents are caused by reckless and negligent drivers, who must be held responsible. Families who are struggling with the consequences of a motorcycle crash may want to think about consulting a legal professional.
