With motorcycle accidents, it’s important to remember that there are all sorts of factors which can lead to a crash. Many people are aware of driver fatigue and drunk driving, but motorcyclists are struck by vehicles and involved in wrecks for other reasons as well. For example, motorcycle wrecks may occur because of poor road conditions caused by inclement weather, improper signage and other factors that don’t always receive as much attention. In Huntington, and other cities across the rest of West Virginia, it is vital for everyone on the road to do what they can to prevent motorcycle collisions from claiming more lives.
Law enforcement officials are investigating a motorcycle accident that recently happened in South Dakota. The wreck, which claimed the life of a 22-year-old motorcyclist, appears to have been caused by a minivan that was attempting to turn left.
The driver of the minivan, a woman who was 36, did not suffer any injuries. Authorities believe speed may have played a role in the accident, which took place at around 9:45 p.m. The victim’s identity has not been released at this time.
Even when motorcyclists are fortunate enough to survive a terrible accident, their life may become very complicated. Painful injuries, missing work, medical costs and emotional trauma are just some of the additional problems that people who find themselves in this position often encounter. When reckless drivers cause a crash that never should have occurred, they can’t be let off the hook. Sometimes, motorcyclists going through this benefit from talking to an attorney.
